It is difficult to get across what a huge project building the
Sail Training vessel 'Tenacity of Bolton' has been since the
first parts of the boat were made and what it continues to be now
that the boat is working with students in Morecambe bay and
beyond.
A new 28 minute film documentary, produced by Mr Duncan Kyle,
charts how the 60 foot sailing boat, named Tenacity of Bolton, was
built by pupils, staff, parents, helpers and local businesses over
a nine year period (1998-2007).
The film includes extensive interviews with Mr Michael
Whitmarsh, Director of the Millennium Ketch Project and
ex-Head of Technology at Bolton School, and with Mr Alan Wright,
former Headmaster of Bolton School Boys' Division.
The film records the great efforts of all those
involved in the project, not least of which were the 1,000 boys for
whom it formed an integral part of the curriculum and a popular
lunch-time extra-curricular activity.
